Horseheads High School
Music
Several curricular and extra-curricular music groups are offered at the high school. Ensembles that meet daily both semesters include Chorale, Concert Choir, Orchestra, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble. Other electives that are offered include Piano, Guitar, Voice, Musical Theatre, World Music Drumming, and Foundations of Musicianship. After-school groups at the high school include student-run a cappella groups, Harmony Bridge, Blue Raider Marching Ensemble, Green Room Players, Pit Orchestra, and Composition Club. Students may also choose to participate in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA).
Instrumental students will also have a 40-minute lesson once every six school days, on a rotating basis so students do not miss the same class each lesson. Because of 80-minute periods at the high school, students only miss half of their class for a lesson.
