Special Ad Hoc Committee on School Start Time and End Time Evaluation
The Special Ad Hoc Committee on School Start Time and End Time Evaluation will utilize the current Horseheads Central School District start and end times for the 2025-2026 school year to consider any potential modifications and/or switching of school start times for all levels from the present conditions. The Ad-Hoc Committee will meet at least once a month, in the evening, as established by the committee chair. Specifically, the committee’s scope shall be to gather information from relevant stakeholder groups about the start and end times used by the district to produce a final report for submission to the Board of Education no later than the end of April 2026. The submitted report should establish community views on the status of start and end times, the feasibility, practicality, and/or desirability of making any future revisions, any budgetary, staffing, and/or transportation implications of any potential modifications or changes from the district’s current times, and an understanding and exploration of potential impacts of any changes both positive and/or negative. The Board of Education will then review the report, as appropriate, for any future considerations based upon the gathered information. The Special Ad-Hoc Committee on School Start Time Evaluation will be dissolved no later than June 18, 2026, or earlier, upon the submittal of the final report to the Board of Education.
