Redistricting Information
Horseheads Central School District is focused on setting the standard of educational excellence, this includes providing students a positive educational environment. As part of the Horseheads 2030 Capital Improvement Project, the district has focused on making major improvements to all our schools and facilities, while also reviewing the shifts in student populations.
As a result, the Horseheads community voted on December 7, 2021 to approve construction and the transition from four elementary schools to three, closing Center Street Elementary School. Please check this page regularly, as important updates and resources will be posted to this page to inform the community on the redistricting process.

Revised Transportation Model
With our start and end times aligned, the district will implement a more streamlined transportation model. Students in grades K-4 will be transported in one tier, while grades 5-12 will be transported in a second tier, respectively. These changes will:
- Reduce a majority of the ride times to an hour or less,
- enable all Intermediate and Middle School students to be transported at the same time in the event of an emergency
- align start and end times, removing late bus arrivals,
- minimize daily bus-to-bus transfers,
- and adhere to current district staffing needs in Transportation.
