Substitute Teacher Application
Horseheads Central School District accepts applications for substitute teachers throughout the school year. Both certified and non-certified positions are available. Uncertified substitute teachers may be approved as long as they meet the following minimum qualifications:
- An associate degree or higher; OR
- Completed at least two years of Post-Secondary Education; OR
- Having been graduatedfrom High School and completed a minimum of 12 college credits; OR
- Having served and been honorably discharded from the military.
- To subsitute in grades 9-12, have either been graduatedfrom High School for at least four years or have completed their bachelor's degree or higher.
Where the District has performed a good faith search and been unable to secure subsitutes as needed the Superitnendent or Superintendent's designee may waive one or more of the above requirements.
To apply for substitute teaching, applicants must complete all of the documents in the Substitute Teacher Application and deliver them in person to the district’s Human Resources Office, 143 Hibbard Road, Horseheads, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Applicants must also provide two forms of identification.
