- Yes: 1,824 (66.81%)
- No: 906 (33.19%)
Proposition 2 - Purchase of School Buses: Passed
- Yes: 1,732 (63.75%)
- No: 985 (36.25%)
Board of Education: The following candidates were elected to three-year terms.

- Susan Ungvarsky (1,187)
- Kristine Dale (1,058)
The Board of Education and administration begin development of the school year's budget many months prior to the May budget vote. Budget information is presented at board meetings and workshops throughout the winter and apring. For the 2024-25 budget, the first budget presentation is Thursday, February 15. The board will continue budget development and discussion at their next several meetings until the final adoption of the budget to be offered to voters at the budget vote Tuesday, May 21. Meetings are open to the public and will be live streamed (http://ideas.gstboces.org/hhds/). Links to the meeting recordings will be posted below. Please note that the live stream and meeting recordings may very in quality. Because of this, we encourage you to join us in-person.

Candidate Forum
The district hosted a Board of Education Candidate Forum on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. To view the recording of the Candidates Forum, please click here.
There are eight candidates running for three, three-year terms. The candidates are as followed (listed based on ballot order): Julie Monahan, Mary Joan Glanton, Susan Ungvarsky, Matthew Feinberg, James Jacobus, Kristine Dale, Theresa Cain, and Avery Forcier-Rodabaugh. Candidates running for the Board of Education will introduce themselves and answer questions presented in a forum format. All are welcome. The forum will be live streamed and recorded.
Voting
All district residents are eligible to vote, provided they meet the following requirements:
- Are a U.S. citizen
- Are 18 years of age or older on the day of the vote
- Have lived in the district for at least 30 days prior to the vote
- Are not restricted from voting in general elections based on election law
OR

Absentee and Ealy Mail Voting
Qualified voters who cannot get to the polls on May 21 may request an application for absentee or early mail ballot.
Applications for absentee and early mail ballots are available in the district’s Business Office, 143 Hibbard Road, Horseheads, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. up to and including May 20. Ballots can only be mailed or issued in-person only directly to the applicant. Applicants may not designate another individual to individual to receive the ballot on their behalf.
Completed ballots must be returned to the Business Office no later than 5 p.m. on May 21. The district mails absentee ballots to voters listed as “permanently disabled” by the Chemung County Board of Elections.

Interested in running for the Board of Education?
To run for the Board of Education, a person must be at least 18 years of age, a qualified voter in the district, able to read and write, and must have lived in the district for at least one year prior to the board election/budget vote. Petitions for district residents interested in running for the Board of Education are available in the Business Office beginning in early March.
